St Vincent and the Grenadines: Carlos James, the Minister of Tourism, made a commitment to promoting the island as a premier wedding destination in the region.

It is to be noted that the announcement was made by the Minister on Tuesday while addressing the investors at the State of the Tourism Industry at the Cruise Ship Terminal in Kingstown.

The Minister stated that this initiative has been taken following the recent amendments to the Marriage Act. The new amendments will now facilitate applications electronically with an online payment portal in place.

The people who wish to get married in the island nation will no longer need to travel to the mainland from the Grenadines or visit the High Court Registry to pay for their marriage license.

The Minister also mentioned that the government chose this online option because the applicants had to go to the mainland to sign documents, which was very time-consuming. St Vincent and the Grenadines was considered one of the leading places for destination weddings, but due to this process, the island witnessed a large fall-off.

Therefore, the digital marketing campaign has made the process easy, and people can book an online application from anywhere in the world.
