Five national finalists and regional ambassadors are all set to embark their journey to the 2024 Miss World Guyana crown.
The grand finale of the Miss World Guyana competition has been scheduled to take place on Sunday, 8th December, 2024 at the Ramada Georgetown Princess Hotel.
Five Finalists to vie for crown of Miss World Guyana
- Naheeryah Newland (Miss World Essequibo Islands-West Demerara)
- Lieve Blanckaert (Miss World Demerara-Mahaica)
- Rachel Mohabir (Miss World East Berbice Corentyne)
- Diana Lopez (Miss World Potaro-Siparuni)
- Zalika Samuels (Miss World Upper Demerara-Upper Berbice)
Appointment of these Five Finalists
All these five nationalists who have been selected to compete for the crown of Miss World Guyana 2024, were appointed during the Appointment ceremony.
This ceremony took place on Monday, 2nd December, 2024 under the theme, “Empowering women to lead, inspire and create impactful change across Guyana.”
During this ceremony, the authorities held ‘Beauty with a Purpose competition’, aiming to encourage candidates to develop and implement projects which can be utilized to tackle all the rising issues within their communities.
All these five finalists shined during the competition and showcased their dedication towards implementing stringent measures that elevates the standards of communities.
Naheeryah Newland (Miss World Essequibo Islands-West Demerara)
The 21-year-old Naheeryah Newland is a passionate person who at the age of 17 launched her own skincare business with no prior experience. Through her dedication and passion, she also became a self-taught product formulator, creating a range of products such as soaps, lotions, and cleansers.
Shedding light on the significance of ‘Beauty with a Purpose’, she said that it is deeply meaningful to her. “It signifies that while we are all uniquely beautiful, it is our purpose that sets us apart.”
She said that Miss World Guyana is not a just a competition for her but a platform of substance. “I’m passionately championing a cause for our youths through my “Beauty with a Purpose” project, aimed at empowering them through entrepreneurship.”
Lieve Blanckaert (Miss World Demerara-Mahaica)
The 26-year-old Lieve Blanckaert is a Guyanese-Belgian, raised in Georgetown, Guyana. She is passionate for holistic living, pageantry, and community empowerment.
She has already been the 1st Runner-Up at Miss Universe Guyana 2023 and Miss India Guyana 2015.
She emphasised on the importance of ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ and called it an essential platform to create positive chance, advocating for holistic living and uplifting communities through service and compassion.
Rachel Mohabir (Miss World East Berbice Corentyne)
The 24-year-old Rachel Mohabir’s significant life experience was responding to a Code Blue and saving a patient’s life. She enjoys singing, cooking and find cleaning therapeutic.
For her ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ is about more than appearances. She said that for her, it is about the heart and the positive differences that make in the lives of others.
She added that True Beauty is something which is found in compassion and purpose, beyond make up and clothes.
Diana Lopez (Miss World Potaro-Siparuni)
The 26-year-old Diana Lopez enjoys poetry, writing and reading during her leisure time. Under ‘beauty with a purpose’ project, she aims to bridge the gap between STEM education and life skills training for students with disabilities.
Zalika Samuels (Miss World Upper Demerara-Upper Berbice)
The 21-year-old Zalika Samuels is the reigning Miss Linden Town Week 2023 and Miss Emancipation 2024. She wants to use Miss World Guyana’s platform to inspire and uplift others through meaningful community projects.
Under this ‘Beauty with a Purpose Project’, she aims to enhance literacy skills among underprivileged children in Guyana.
Miss World Guyana 2024
The Miss World Guyana 2024 is a great platform for all these finalists to use it in order to bring a positive change that could lead the nation towards growth and development.
