Castries, Saint Lucia: HelpAWS (Help Animal Welfare in Saint Lucia), a Castries-based organisation, has shared a story of sweet, little pup Lucy, who joined the family after being born at a nearby factory. In social media post, the organisation informed, “Sweet Lucy has been failed by humans too many times in her short life.”

It further stated that this gorgeous girl came to the organisation with her six siblings after being born at a factory where one of the workers thought the pups “made too much noise.” It didn’t matter that they were merely days old or still couldn’t eat on their own and should have remained with their mother. The well-being of these little beans was never a consideration in a world where too many see a nuisance rather than tender, precious lives.

In addition, HelpAWS informed that the pups needed round-the-clock care at the shelter, including bottle feeding every three hours night and day. They were just so tiny & sweet and quickly had the entire team wrapped around their little paws!

“We are as diligent as possible in our interview process to find the best forever home for every pup that comes through the shelter doors. Lucy (known at the shelter as Kona) was no exception. We were ecstatic when we solidified an adoption with someone we believed would love Lucy unconditionally for her entire life,” it outlined.

Additionally, it conveyed that, sadly, that hasn’t been the case. Lucy’s adopter chose to relinquish her back to the animal shelter a few weeks ago. Lucy had built a bond with her adopter and had settled into what was supposed to be her forever home, so she was understandably confused when she was rehomed. She is now back in the care of her original foster and is described as a sweet girl who needs someone who’s willing to put in the time with her.

“Her foster raves about Lucy and tell us she is an absolute joy to have in their home and shows no bad behaviour or issues whatsoever! She’s loyal, sweet, smart, playful, and eager to please, and she gets along beautifully with the foster family’s dog and children. We haven’t given up on Lucy and are looking for a family that will adore her unconditionally and never give up on her, too! Go to www.helpaws.com/adopt to apply to adopt Lucy today,” the organisation concluded.
