Castries, Saint Lucia: The Cultural Development Foundation of Saint Lucia shared a social media post, earlier this week, emphasising the importance of Jazz Music.
On the occasion of International Jazz Day, the Development Foundation mentioned that it has been joining the world in celebrating International Jazz Day, a day highlighting Jazz Music and its diplomatic role in using people in all corners of the globe.
Jazz music encourages artistic innovation, improvisation, new forms of expression and the inclusion of traditional music.
As per the update, from May 5th – 14th, 2023, Saint will be home to the premier Caribbean Jazz and Art Festival featuring extraordinary local, regional and international jazz musicians.
“Near and dear to our hearts is the Cultural Icons Celebrations on May 11th, 2023, in honour of Luther Francois. The Icon. Legend. Genius. Luther is revered for his contribution to the growth and development of the art form in Saint Lucia. Come out and show your support!” Cultural Development Foundation stated.
It further said the adding to the mix, Jazz It Up is a project geared towards the enhancement and further development of skills and techniques of the Saint Lucian artists in jazz music through intercultural exchange initiatives.
Jazz it Up is the result of a collaboration between the Cultural Development Foundation and Spotlight Taiwan Project which will see world-renowned musician Chung Ching Chen from Taiwan hosting a two-week music workshop from May 2nd – May 12th with other local Saint Lucian musicians.
