Two Saint Lucians to compete at World Aquatics Swimming Championship 2024

Two swimmers are all set to represent Saint Lucia at the 2024 World Aquatics Swimming Championship, scheduled to take place in Budapest, Hungary from 10th-15th December, 2024.

The 2-member team will be accompanied by Head Coach, John Mc Lennon and Team Manager, Tessa Charles – Louis.  The team is expected to leave today and will return on Tuesday, 17th December, 2024.

Swimmers to represent Saint Lucia at World Aquatics Swimming Championship

  •         Naekeisha Louis will compete in the 100-meter Freestyle on December 11, and the 50-meter Freestyle on December 14.
  •         Ethan Hazell will participate in the 50-meter Butterfly on December 10, and the 50-meter Freestyle on December 14.

While unveiling the participants, the Saint Lucia Aquatic Federation said that it is a great platform for both the athletes to showcase their skills, compete for medals and set new records.

They further added that this Championship is a great platform for both Naekeisha Louis and Ethan Hazell to showcase their expertise, push their limits, and inspire several young athletes of country who aspires to represent their nation on an international platform.  

World Aquatics Swimming Championship

The World Aquatics Swimming Championship is an international sporting event which will bring hundreds of elite athletes together from around the world.

The participants will compete in various water disciplines, including, swimming, diving, high diving, open water swimming, artistic swimming, and water polo.

The World Aquatics Championships was first hosted in 1973 by the International Swimming Federation with a vision to promote and develop water sports globally. Since then, the Championship has evolved into one of the renowned events in the world of sports.

As per reports, the morning sessions of the Championship are dedicated to heats. Meanwhile, the evening sessions will feature semi-finals and finals, all to be held at Duna Arena.

Saint Lucia’s participation at the 32nd OECS Swimming Championships

Recently, Saint Lucia participated at the 32nd OECS Swimming Championship which took place at the Shrewsbury Aquatic Centre from 8th to 10th November, 2024.

Saint Lucia remained outstanding throughout the tournament, securing 4th place with an impressive total of 1071.50 points.

Both Ethan Hazell and Naekeisha Louis also participated at the tournament and represented the nation in the under 15-17 and 18 and over category.

The Aquatics Federation are hoping for both the athletes will get medals for Saint Lucia and represent the country with pride and utmost determination.
