PM Skerrit visits Cable Car Project site, calls it meticulously engineered

Roseau, Dominica: The highly anticipated Dominica Cable Car Project today witnessed a visit from Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit. He was accompanied by Tourism Minister Denise Charles and Finance Minister Dr. Irving McIntyre during the site inspection of the World’s longest and meticulously engineered project located at the Roseau Valley on June 6, 2024.

The flagship initiative Dominica Cable Car Project will turn out to be a historic tourist place which will make the World’s Second Largest boiling lake accessible for the visitors. The project promises to increase the tourism by three folds, boost local economies and create job opportunities for Dominicans.

The ground-breaking marvel is being constructed under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit. Sharing about the ease the cable car project will bring, PM Skerrit stated that many have tried reaching the boiling lake one of the world’s wonders, few might have fallen down during the long trek, some might have not reached the end point. Even the ones with any physical disability or unfit can’t even imagine to experience it.

This Cable Car Project would lend the opportunity to everyone, irrespective of their physical circumstances, to be able to enjoy the boiling lake.

Highlighting the construction of the project PM Skerrit appreciated the detailed and sustainable engineering efforts that the developers have undertaken ensuring the safety of everyone. Working in dire, heavy rainy conditions and wet soil, the developers have considered the best engineering planning and construction by integrating modern technology for the project.

PM Skerrit further lauded the crew for preserving the natural beauty of the Roseau valley and making it an attractive site for the travellers to be attracted to visit from all corners of the world.

The Prime Minister labelled the Cable Car project as Dominica’s major tourism attraction similarly as Niagara Falls in Canada and Eiffel Tower. Emphasising on drawing more visitors to Dominica, this project would prove to be a competitor and enhance island’s attractiveness.

Also, the Tourism Minister, Denise Charles shared that the project on completion will generate more tourist footfall in Dominica and will boost the economy of Roseau Valley. It will also arise the need of several tour guides, taxi operators, and enhanced coastal busses.

The Cable Car Project will give new income opportunities to a lot of locals and the hospitality industry, Minister Charles noted.

PM Skerrit also shared updates on other ongoing projects in Dominica including the new international airport, Cabrits Marina that will transform the yachting industry, Cruise Village, Geothermal Plant that will together transform the Dominica’s economy and take it to heights.

Around 210 locals have been employed on the Dominica’s Cable Car Project, and the crew have expressed delight on being employed at the project and the PM Skerrit led administration is pleased with the progress and have shared that it is likely to be completed by 2025.

During the site visit, the administration was also joined by Missi Henderson, Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister, Lisa Valmond, Permanent Secretary in Dominica Ministry of Tourism, along with the Project Manager Randall Gliege, and a representative of ABL Holdings.
