“Flavours of the World Festival,” a celebration of global cuisine and culture, has returned to Dominica. The festival will support the renovation of the historic Roseau Cathedral, a significant part of the nation’s cultural heritage and tourism.
A lively sensation is to flow through the Windsor Park Stadium, as the festival brings along a vibrant celebration of the prosperous cultural heritage of the country and the fragrance of the delicious items to be served in the festival on Sunday, 29th September, 2024.
The attendees will not only be delighted with the rich flavours of the global food but also the electrifying performances of various artists. The performers that will grace the Windsor Park with their presence includes, Extazy Band of Dominica, Carya XP of Dominica, De Hunter of Dominica, Li-Li Octave of Dominica, Triple Kay of Dominica, Marie Pascale of Cameroon and Natacha Ruffe of Martinique.
Notably, the launch of the Flavours of the World Festival was held at the Alliance Française de la Dominique on August 16th, 2024.
While shedding light on the Festival, the Public Relations Officer of Flavours of the World Committee, Lindsey George, stated that Dominica has truly become a multicultural society. He added that several nationalities are represented, including Chinese, Venezuelans, Cubans, Indians, Europeans, Africans, Haitians, Dominicans from the Dominican Republic, Americans, Lebanese, and many more.
He noted that all these nations bring their unique cultures, cuisine, traditions, and experiences right here to the nature isle. It is a festival that will allow the people of the nation to experience firsthand the vibrant culture and cuisine of every corner of the globe.
Lindsey George continued to say that this festival provides an opportunity for all to journey around the world in one day and not eighty. He added that on Sunday, 29th September, at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium, forecourt, every attendee will get an opportunity to rewind, dined and entertained with music, dance, and delectable cuisine.
The Public Relations Officer also added that the festival will be a wholesome experience for everyone and their families. He noted that they will also have a designated area for the children to host some special activities for them in order to encourage them to learn more about other countries and cultures, all while having a thoroughly enjoyable time.
The Flavors of the World Festival will not only foster integration and unity but the funds raised will go towards the completion of a historic building in the capital city, the Roswell Cathedral.
The building is most likely the oldest building in the city and is important to the heritage and tourism product. The Cathedral of Our Lady of Fair Haven was first constructed in 1730 and was later expanded, with the expansion being completed in 1839.
It took over 100 years to complete the Cathedral but due to the age of the building and the type of material used in its construction, extensive renovation and rebuilding works commenced on the building over 10 years ago.
This building is of historic significance for Dominica as the largest and oldest church building on the island, and it also constitutes an important tourist attraction for the City of Roseau.
Therefore, the authorities of Flavours of the World Festival have asked all the citizens of the country to join them in celebrating Global Cuisine and Culture on 29th September at Forecourt from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
The tickets for Children aging 5 to 12 are cost to $20 and the adults will have to pay $100 to be a part of this festival with one taster included. Meanwhile, the ticket for the VIP Dining is available at $250.
