St Kitts and Nevis became the first Caribbean nation to host the Business and Professional Women (BPW) International Congress from 17th November to 21st November, 2024 at the Marriott Resort. The participants from more than 72 nations participated in the event, provided a platform to all the women to share their views on the increasing issues faced by them.
The island nation welcomed around 350 members from 72 nations for the prestigious event, being held in the Caribbean country for the first time. This event was a great opportunity for all the women to address pressing issues related to gender equality, women’s empowerment, and leadership.
The Prime Minister Terrance Drew also hosted a cocktail reception for the executive and members of BPW International Congress with a vision to make the event unforgettable for every participant.
“Her Excellency the Governor General, my wife, and I were pleased to host a cocktail reception for the executive and members of BPW International,” stated PM Terrance Drew.
The event was started on 17th November, 2024 with the opening ceremony of the annual (Business and Professional Women) BPW International Congress. The Deputy Prime Minister of the country addressed every woman presented during the event and shared his remarks.
He also expressed his excitement on witnessing Pamela Wall, receiving her award from the International BPW President. Deputy PM Hanley described Wall as the brainchild behind the BPW St Kitts Chapter. He acknowledged the tiring efforts of Pamela Wall and her vision of women empowerment, leadership and inclusion.
“It was an evening well spent as our women continue to blaze the path for our younger girls,” stated Minister Geoffrey Hanley.
BPW INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS
The BPW International Congress is considered as one of the most influential international networks of business and professional women with affiliates in over 100 countries in five continents. The members of this network include influential women leaders, entrepreneurs, business owners, executives, professionals and young business and professional women.
The main motive of BPW International Congress is to unite business and professional women in all parts of the world to work for the economic independence of females and develop their professional and leadership potential.
BPW INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS in St Kitts and Nevis
The Business and Professional Women (BPW) International Congress started on 17th November, 2024 with the Opening Ceremony and Awards. It was followed by a high-level panel discussion with Annette Lu, Taiwan.
On 19th November, the Global Summit of Women was conducted where all the influential women leaders participated and shared their expertise. The event was continued with a business session where the participants showcased the presentation of President nominees.
The authorities hosted UN Representatives Panel Discussion on Violence Against Women on 20th November, 2024. After that, the election of President was conducted along with the showcasing of the Presentation of Nominees for Executive Board.
The day was ended with an award show and a candle lighting ceremony, aiming to create a memorable time for all the participants. On the last day of the BPW International Congress in St Kitts and Nevis, the authorities held a panel discussion with Myrna Tang Yao, Richprime.
It was followed by Ratification and Elections of members of the International Executive Board and the Valedictory Farewell, Installation of new President and Closing of the Congress.
