World Aquatics Swimming Championship: Jonathan Essien to represent St Kitts and Nevis

Jonathan Essien is all set to represent St Kitts and Nevis at the World Aquatics Swimming Championship, scheduled to be held in Duna Arena in Budapest, Hungary.

He is the sole athlete who has been selected to represent the Federation at the World Aquatics Swimming Championship. He will participate in the 50m and 100m butterfly events, aiming to win a medal for his country.

World Aquatics Swimming Championship

The World Aquatics Swimming Championship is the championship for six aquatic disciplines, which include, swimming, diving, high diving, open water swimming, artistic swimming, and water polo.

The competition will start on 10th December, 2024 and will continue till 15th December, 2024, providing a platform for the athletes from all over the world to participate in the aquatic championship.

The competitions will feature morning sessions which are dedicated to heats. Meanwhile, the evening sessions will feature semi-finals and finals, all to be held at Duna Arena.

The event will showcase various distances in segments including, butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, and the individual medley.

Hungary to host the event

The Hungarian capital has a history of hosting premier World Aquatics events. The nation had initially organized the 2017 and 2022 editions of the World Aquatics Championships and several World Cup events.

However, the upcoming World Swimming Championships will mark the first time for Hungary as the host of the world championships in a 25m pool.

St Kitts Nevis Aquatics Federation on Jonathan Essien’s participation

Shedding light on Jonathan’s participation at the World Aquatics Swimming Championship, the SKNAF President Eldon Thomas expressed excitement and pride.

He shared about his training in Sweden, where he lives and studies. He also appreciated Jonathan for his remarkable progress in his athletic career.

SKNFA President Thomas also highlighted about the learnings and exceptional determination of Jonathan. He added that Jonathan has been constantly working hard, which is a testament to his commitment to bring glory to his nation.

He mentioned about Jonathan’s access to excellent pool facilities in Sweden. The President added that the athlete has truly excelled in all of that and has been a standout performer.

He further went on to acknowledge Jonathan for his unwavering dedication to his field and thanked him for the little ray of hope that he brings along.

The SKNAF President said that this championship is a great opportunity for Jonathan Essien to showcase his talent, abilities and techniques on an international platform.

He also ensured continuing to provide essential resources to the athlete. The President added that they are adamant to empowering their young athletes with a vision to enhance their skills and polish their talent.
