The Conaree Football Stadium of St Kitts and Nevis is nearing completion, marking a vital step undertaken by the Government of St Kitts and Nevis towards upgrading sports sector of the island nation.
Recently, the Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew and Minister of Sports, Samal Duggins made a visit to the Conaree Football Stadium to assess its progress. The builder, Ellison Isaac was also a part of the team that visited the stadium.
Sharing the details on the development of the project, Minister Duggins noted that this project is no longer “coming soon” but rather “under way!” He added that they will soon host a grand unveiling ceremony for the stadium, aiming to witness thrilling football games as well as roars and cheering of the fans.

The state-of the art facility features several new developments including bathroom facilities, changing rooms for home and away teams, bleachers, a media centre and commentator’s booth, and bars.
The stadium also has ramps which are build for people who use wheelchairs, aiming to make it accessible for differently-abled people.
Minister Duggins noted that the progress witnessed in the stadium is a testament to their unwavering commitment and dedication towards developing sports and empowering communities in St. Kitts and Nevis.
“Your SKNLP-led administration is committed to delivering results, not just making promises,” noted Minister Duggins.
The Conaree Football Stadium will be used as a host venue for St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association [SKNFA] Premier League football matches.
The stadium will serve as a catalyst for promoting community spirit across the entire village of Conaree, through sports and other organized activities.
PM Terrance Drew on Conaree Football Stadium
Sharing the details on the Conaree Football Stadium, the Prime Minister Drew said that in 2014, when he became the candidate of the Labour Party, he raised an idea of constructing a stadium. He said that he advocated for the fencing of the field and enhancing the overall amenities of the stadium.
It was then, Labour Government who approved the project and assigned a local builder, Ellison Isaac for constructing the fence. The Prime Minister added that they were working diligently towards their promise of providing the people of Conaree with a football stadium.
However, the project was halted when the Government changed and the Unity Government came into power. He added that the stadium was not built and instead, a 40-foot container was delivered to be used as a changing room.
The Prime Minister Terrance Drew said that he was committed to fulfil his promise that he made to the people of Conaree.
“I made a commitment to the people of Conaree that if I was given the opportunity to serve as their MP, I would deliver the stadium.”
He said that now when he visited the stadium, the progress registered is making him extremely happy and delightful.
