Bahamas: After an intensified search operation to find the missing jet ski rider in the Bahamas, the authorities recovered the unresponsive body of the 25-year-old. The two day search operation ended on a sad note.
The 25-year-old Dishon Russell, resident of Hunters, Grand Bahama, went missing around 3:00 in the afternoon on June 7, Friday.
The Royal Bahamas Police Force shared, while conducting the search the local boater William Gardiner and his cousin voluntarily got involved in the rescue and found Russell’s body around 9:20 am on Saturday. The unresponsive body was found about half a mile offshore in Coral Beach waters.
Chief Superintendent Sherry Armaly, revealed that the police officials received the information around 5:00 PM. The locals informed that a jet ski operator had been struck by waves, leading the jet ski vehicle to overturn.
After taking out the body, it was taken to a local hospital for further procedures to be followed. Medical Professionals shared the next step will be to perform an autopsy to find out the actual cause of death.
Marine Support Services and Defence Forces started the search operation immediately as they received the information about Rusell’s drowning, and after a rigorous search, they successfully located the missing body and handed it over.
The authorities have extended their condolences with the family and friends to bear the pain of loss. Also advised the skiers to be cautious while skiing and use precautionary measures.
The victim’s mother, Sanika Rolle, before the discovery of his son, issued an emotional plea for help to find her 25-year-old son but was heartbroken after the news of the unresponsive body reached her.
The investigations continue till the authorities could find out the reason behind the death of Dishon Russel.
In a separate incident the same day, two men died and one got injured following a boating accident near the Rose Island. The reports state that the vessel left the marina of East Bay St around 6:30 am and was en route to South Andros when they collided with a reef.
