St Kitts and Nevis: Sunset Reef Resort activated its Sustainable Energy Storage System. This is the first resort to activate an energy storage system in the entire Caribbean region.
Sunset Reef Resort is a 5-star boutique resort located in Palmetto Point. Through the activated sustainable energy storage system, renewable energy sources like solar power are being stored. With this, the Sunset Reef Resort has already been recognized regionally and internationally for its sustainable practices.
At present, it is operating at 100% green energy. Terrance Drew, the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis has invited the public to celebrate the monumental step towards a greener and more sustainable future for St Kitts and Nevis.
“Together, let’s continue to inspire positive change and protect the planet for generations to come,” mentioned the Prime Minister.
With this statement, the Prime Minister marked a step ahead for the required positive change and to protect the planet for the generations to come. He shared some of the glimpses from the times of activating the energy storage systems.
The Sunset Reef Hotel has also been recognized with the prestigious title of sustainable hotel of the year at the Caribbean Journal’s Caribbean Travel Awards 2024. Such a recognition showcases the commitment to eco-friendly practices in the hospitality industry.
The luxurious amenities the hotel provides are the epitome of responsible tourism, which intimates boutique resorts and sets new standards for green excellence. Last year, it got listed in the 2023 Hot List of the Best New Hotels in the world.
While laying an emphasis on sustainability, the Sunset Reef prioritizes renewable energy management. And, it has implemented a highly efficient air conditioning system and uses the energy generated from the pools.
For the environmental practices, the commitment has been extended to water conservation and a strict no-plastic policy on the property. Such initiatives being taken are the sign and symbol of the growth of the country.
