Olympic Medallist Julien Alfred appointed as Tourism Ambassador for Saint Lucia
Taking the role and responsibilities of the Tourism Ambassador, Alfred will participate in various promotional events for Saint Lucia in key markets worldwide.

Saint Lucia’s star sprinter and the double Olympic medallist, Julien Alfred has been officially announced as the Tourism Ambassador for the island nation on Thursday, 26th September, 2024. The Tourism Authority called it a significant moment and stated that the essence filled presence of Alfred will play a huge role in leading Saint Lucia as a premier destination for all the travellers.
Taking the role and responsibilities of the Tourism Ambassador, Alfred will participate in various promotional events for Saint Lucia in key markets worldwide. Along with that, she will also remain forefront in conducting media engagements, advertising initiatives with a vision to promote the island and its marketing campaigns.
She will also participate in social media campaigns in order to boost the tourism sector in Saint Lucia.
Also, the Minister of Tourism of Saint Lucia, Dr Ernest Hilaire shared the glimpses of a ceremony where the Olympic Gold and Silver medalist Julien Alfred officially became a tourism ambassador for the country.
The Minister asserted that since her victory at the Olympics, Alfred has gained global recognition, which has played a huge role in bringing significant attention to the island nation. He further added that Alfred was already unofficially an ambassador for her country but this ceremony has formalized her role.
Minister Hilaire further continued to say that Alfred’s exceptional victories have not only brought pride to Saint Lucia but have also inspired countless individuals worldwide. Listening to the coming praises and continued appreciations, during the ceremony, Julien Alfred with sparkling eyes, broke into tears.
Minister Hilaire, sharing her picture, stated “this has truly been an emotional journey for Olympic champion Julien Alfred. Rest assured, when you cry, we cry; when you celebrate, we celebrate.”
The tourism minister also highlighted the co-branding of the prominent Saint Lucia logo on Julien’s PUMA competition and warm-up kits. He stated that after showing immense support for the world’s fastest woman, PUMA is now making sure to take care of Saint Lucia.
Notably, the PUMA team has pledged to provide the entire Ciceron Combined with their stylish sneakers.
“We are grateful to team PUMA, and especially to Julien “JuJu” Alfred, as her successes continue to bring Saint Lucia into the spotlight,” noted Tourism Minister. He added that this partnership will play a significant role in enhancing the visibility of the country and establish Julien as a contemporary global ambassador for Saint Lucia.
Moreover, the celebration on Thursday also included an emotional ceremony at her alma mater, Ciceron R.C. Combined. During the ceremony, a mural dedicated to the track star was unveiled, where she received several gifts from the school students, and her well-wishers.
The Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip J. Pierre also attended the unveiling ceremony of the “Julien Alfred Mural” and called the atmosphere, “emotional.”
“I witnessed the performances and tributes to Ms. Alfred by the principal, teachers and students of the school where she started her journey,” noted PM Pierre.
