The massive partnership of 209 runs by West Indies star batters, Keacy Carty and Brandon King guided the Men in Maroon to their consecutive ODI series win over England. This is the 2nd highest ODI partnership by West Indies player in the Caribbean region which came during the 3rd ODI match against England.
Notably, the game was played on Wednesday, 6th November 2024, at Kensington Oval Barbados. The match started with West Indies winning the toss and deciding to bowl first.
The batters of the England team started off with early dismissals at just 24-4, with Will Jacks, Jordan Cox, Jacob Bethell and Liam Livingstone dismissed for 5,1,0 and 6 runs respectively. However, Phil Salt anchored England’s recovery, scoring 74 runs and forming two crucial partnerships of 70 runs, first with Sam Curran and then with Dan Mousley.
Sam Curran and Dan Mousley contributed to the team’s scores but failed to provide the finishing touch as they got out in 40 and 57 runs, respectively. Following their departures, Jamie Overton and Jofra Archer played an aggressive knock and led their team to reach a total of 263 runs with 8 wickets down.
Following that, the West Indies chase began. The batters soon found their rhythm as they started the game on an attacking note. Windies batters Brandon King and Keacy Carty smashed their third and first ODI hundred. They both formed a strong partnership of 209 runs for the second wicket to help West Indies chase 263 runs easily and seal the series by 2-1.
Brandon King scored 102 runs in 117 balls, hitting 13 fours and 1 six, and played the game at a strike rate of 87.18. Meanwhile, Keach Carty became the first man from Sint Maarten to score an international hundred for the Windies. He scored 128 runs in just 114 balls, with 2 sixes and 15 fours, and played the massive knock at a strike rate of 112.28.
The batters made the game look so easy as they chased down the target in just 43 overs, defeating England by 8 wickets. Also, Brandon King was awarded the Player of the Match for his electrifying ton. He also appreciated Keacy Carty and stated that both the mentioned tried hitting big shots according to their plans.
Moreover, Matthew Forde was presented with the Player of the Series Award. He took 8 wickets in the series and played a crucial knock in the second ODI match.
