Olympic gold medallist, Julien Alfred adds another feather with Silver in Wanda Diamond League

Julien Alfred added another international accolade to her historic and illustrious athletic career as an elite sprinter. Recently, Alfred finished second in the women’s 100m event in the Wanda Diamond League in Zurich, clocking a time of 10.88 seconds.

Her impressive time of 10.88 seconds has once again displayed the exceptional speed and talent of the Golden Girl of Saint Lucia, Julien Alfred.

This Zurich Diamond League has again showcased the ongoing rivalry between the world’s top two sprinters, Sha’carri Richardson and Julien Alfred, who are at the top of their game.

Sha’carri Richardson edged her way to victory in this women’s 100m at the Zurich Diamond League in 10.84s. She defeated the Olympic Champion Julien Alfred just on the line in 10.88s and Dina Asher-Smith with the time frame of 10.89s.

Following her exceptional victory, the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip J Pierre extended congratulations to Alfred on her another remarkable win. He added that Julien Alfred has once again did it for her nation.

The Prime Minister further expressed his excitement to give a grand welcome to Alfred and to celebrate all her accomplishments with herself.

“This time with an impressive second place finish in the Women’s 100m at the Weltklasse Zürich 2024, Diamond League. Join me Saint Lucia in congratulating her on yet another achievement and making our country proud,” noted PM Philip Pierre.

The Minister of Tourism of Saint Lucia, Ernest Hilaire also lauded Alfred on her another victory. He stated that Alfred’s efforts are not going unnoticed and hailing from a small community called, Monkey town to cementing her position as a true champion in the international platform is truly appreciating.

Moreover, after her win in Wanda Diamond League, Julien Alfred shed light on participating at the last game of the season in Brussels next week at the Diamond League Final. She stated that her aim for the game is to just finish strong and healthy.

Notably, this was Julien Alfred’s first race after the Paris Olympics 2024, and since then, she has not had a chance to return to her own nation, Saint Lucia. Therefore, she expressed her excitement about returning to the island nation to celebrate with her country and see the youth of her nation.

Julien Alfred also shared about going for vacation after her return to Saint Lucia. Afred is expected to arrive on 24^th September and for the same, the government has expressed their excitement to give her a memorable and beautiful welcome.
