Guyana: Minister of Labour, Joseph Hamilton met with officials of the Seventh-day Adventist Church to formalize collaboration on training for youths.

Guyana: Minister of Labour, Joseph Hamilton met with officials of the Seventh-day Adventist Church to formalize collaboration on training for youths.
During the engagement, the minister highlighted the mandate of the Ministry of Labour and the Board of Industrial Training (BIT) and articulated some of the innovative approaches embraced by his Ministry in supporting livelihood creation, particularly for youth and women.
He also emphasized the need for a gendered approach in all training programmes.
The Seventh-day Adventist church was represented by Pastor Andrew Chichester, Dr Clement Henry, Pastor Henrick David, and Elder Michael Turner.
The Seventh-day Adventist Church is a supportive body for individual and community development efforts and sees its service to mankind.
Minister Hamilton affirmed his Ministry’s commitment to supporting the venture. The training programme will be launched on July 10, 2022.
Earlier, Minister of Labour, Joseph Hamilton on June 25, 2022 met with officials of Coursera to explore training areas through collaborative efforts.
During the meeting, the minister highlighted the mandate of the Labour Ministry and the Board of Industrial Training (BIT).
Some areas of training was also listed as beneficial to BIT’s Technical Officers and officers within the departments of the Ministry, such Labour, Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) Departments and the Central Recruitment & Manpower Agency.
Coursera provides a platform for training programmes in over one hundred countries and worked with the Ministry of Education in Guyana.
Minister Hamilton informed Coursera Officials that the Permanent Secretary, Heads of the Technical Departments and the Chief Executive Officer of the Board of Industrial Training will meet with them to continue discussion.
