Georgetown, Guyana David McDonald, a labourer of 23 years of age, was arrested for the possession of Ganja while travelling on a flight to Aurora on Wednesday. It is to be noted that he was discovered with narcotics during a police search.

According to the reports, the McDonald was identified to be a resident of Lot 23 Old Kara Kara at McKenzie Linden.

Notably, CANU officers conducted a search on an outgoing passenger at the Eugene F. Correira International Airport at the East Coast Demerara. The flight was destined to travel Aurora at Region 7.

Noting this, the officers conducted an exercise and they found a transparent parcel which contained a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems. The items were suspected to be cannabis.

Furthermore, the investigating officers escorted the suspect and all the illegal items to the CANU Headquarters. They weighed the Ganja and other items in front of the accused and it amounted to 84 grams.

The investigation of the matter is ongoing. The news has been shared on various social media platforms and many people across the region expressed their frustration regarding the rise of such crimes.

While reacting to the news, a FB user named Glynis Gibson, “Why he think that E has more lucky than the those others drug pusher who serving time in jail. Go your way and serve your time, don’t waste the courts time, behave yourself and learn a trade while in jail to be a better man upon release.”

Unfortunately, people are trying to survive by accumulating easy money with a false pretence. These stems are a plant and beneficial for multiple health problems; even though doctors have approved them as a medicine, some people use this plant in the absolutely wrong manner. Due to this, they get addicted to it and spoil their lives.

However, this is not the first time that the country has seen such stances of crime. Last month, Guyana police apprehended a 17-year-old as he was found with Ganja. The higher ranks observed a juvenile with a black plastic bag in his right hand.

The officials searched the bag and found a few quantities of leaves, seeds and stems, which were suspected to be cannabis. It was weighed about 213.3 grams. The accused was under police custody until the next hearing.
