Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis: Mikyle Louis is aiming to become the first Kittitian to secure his position in the squad for the West Indies International Cricket team following his destructive performance in the West Indies Championship.
The player scored the third century of the season against Windwards Islands and became the first batsman to score more than 600 runs in this season of the championship. His exceptional performance was lauded by all the cricket lovers of the region.
His remarkable achievement was also appreciated by Minister of Foreign Affairs of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Denzil Douglas. He took to his official Facebook account and extended congratulations on his third century.
“Congratulations, 23-year-old opening batsman Mikyle Louis for becoming the first batsman to score 600 runs this season in the West Indies Championship. HOPING HE WILL BE THE FIRST KITTITIAN to make the WI Team? Let’s be hopeful!”, noted Minister Douglas.
Minister Douglas also wished him best for his upcoming games and hoping for Louis selection in the West Indies Cricket team. He is also praying for him to become the first citizen of the island nation to make it into the team and represent his nation on a global platform.
His techniques and skills have raised an excitement among the cricket enthusiasts who are awaiting the decision from the West Indies selectors. As the season is progressing, he is raising the bar high and displaying his potential and the bright future of the West Indies Cricket team.
Notably, Louis has scored 649 runs until the last game played, which reflects that he is also eying to break all the previous records set during the West Indies championship. In his previous matches, he scored 52 runs in the first match and 80 in the second game both played against Barbados. Following that, he played an innings of 57 runs against Jamaica.
Then, he scored back-to-back centuries against Guyana, scoring 113 and 130 runs respectively and played the knock of 55 runs against West indies Academy. His consistent runs emphasise on his continuous efforts undertaken by him to turn his aspirations into reality. His perfect timings, power-hitting and consistency is a testament to his unwavering commitment and dedication towards the sport.
Mikyle Louis is playing his debut season for Leeward Island Hurricanes in West Indies Championship 2024. The Leeward Islands Cricket Board also appreciated the performance of a young man and stated “A star in the making, Job well done to Hurricane Miklye Louis.”
Through his performances, he has not only displayed his talent, skills and abilities but also made a significant contribution to his team with his batting techniques, improving the team’s position in the standings.
