Eric Jean Heinis of Gros Islet dies in fatal shooting, marks another Homicide

Eric Jean Heinis, a 58-year-old of Bonne Terre at Gros Islet, was a gunshot in a fatal shooting incident, found with gunshot injuries about his body and he was declared dead by the Doctor.

Eric Jean Heinis of Gros Islet dies in fatal shooting, marks another Homicide

Castries, Saint Lucia: Eric Jean Heinis, a 58-year-old of Bonne Terre at Gros Islet, was a gunshot in a fatal shooting incident on January 16, 2024. It is to be noted that the police have launched an investigation in the region.

The Homicide news has been shared by the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force through their official social media handle (Facebook).

During the incident, people around the area informed the officials about the matter. Upon receiving the report, emergency medical technicians from the Saint Lucia Fire Service attempted to rescue the victim, but after several attempts, they were unsuccessful.

It is to be noted that a male was observed lying in an unconscious state on the main road, with apparent gunshot injuries about his body. He was immediately taken to the hospital for medical aid, but unfortunately, the medical practitioner declared him dead on his arrival.

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force urged people to come forward and visit Gros- Islet Police Station if they have any information regarding the matter.

Notably, this is not the first case of Homicide that the nation has witnessed. Unfortunately, on the same Eric Jn Highnes, a French national, was shot dead in Gros Islet, marking the second Homicide in the region within 24 hours and 5th Homicide reported in the country.

According to the police officials, Highness became a victim of a fatal shooting on the road pavement. The officers had recovered his dead body near an SUV car on the same road.

Noting this, the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip J Pierre, looks forward to implementing measures and policies to combat the rise of crimes in the Federation. People across the nation took to their official Facebook accounts to express their concerns.

One such instance of those comments is, “It’s so sad only 15 days into a new year and we have hit number 5… st lucians…please stop the violence…we need our young men….children need their fathers….women need their men….parents need their children… please stop the violence.”
