19-year-old loses his life in fatal accident in Guyana

The Police officials reported a fatal accident at the Agricultural Road, Mon Repos, ECD, in the nearby area of Guyana Livestock Development Authority on Sunday, 5th November 2023 around 1:45 pm.

The Police officials reported a fatal accident at the Agricultural Road, Mon Repos, ECD, in the nearby area of Guyana Livestock Development Authority on Sunday, 5th November 2023 around 1:45 pm.

A 19-year-old got killed in this dangerous accident. As per the reports, Mahendra Surujpersaud, a 20-year-old resident of Agricultural Road was involved in the accident while driving a Motor Lorry #GAD 6445.

There were two other people, who were residents of the Agricultural Road, who were present in the vehicle at the time of the accident:

–         19-year-old Glenroy James, who is no more now

–         32-year-old Anand Motielall

Mahendra Surujpersaud stated that they were heading towards the South, driving along the Agricultural Road when the car’s front wheel drove onto the 25-foot-high lantern pole, which caused the motor lorry to topple various times.

Notably, the car collided with a pole beside the western parapet, which resulted in everybody sitting in the car being thrown out of the vehicle and onto the western parapet.

The owner of the car, Mahendra Surujpersaud who was also driving the car during the time of the accident and one of the occupants, Anand Motielall was in a conscious state when the citizens helped them and took them to the Georgetown Public Hospital in an emergency unit.

The doctors provided them with the best possible treatment, treated their bruises and discharged them. However, the other occupant, Glenroy James was in an unconscious state when the Police ranks helped him and was declared dead by the doctors on duty when he was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital.

The body of the deceased has been taken to the Memorial Gardens Mortuary and was being held there for the post-mortem examination.

Moreover, in the last month of October, Guyana witnessed the death of a teenager at Mahaica, East Coast Demerara. The accident involved 16-year-old pedal cyclist Varesh Mangal and a minibus #BZZ5553 which was driven by a 54-year-old resident of Lovely Lass Village, West Coast Berbice.

It is to be noted that both the vehicles were proceeding towards the West, travelling along the Southern driving lane of Jonestown Public Road-Mahaica, when the pedal cyclist, Varesh Mangal, made a sudden change in the direction which caused an imbalance and collision of the vehicles.

Due to this, the cyclist fell off from his cycle and received severe injuries on his body. Therefore, he was taken to the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital and was declared dead by the doctors.
