Trinidad and Tobago: TTPS arrests man, seizes cheese, cattle, birds and fish

Trinidad and Tobago: Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has arrested one and seized cheese, cattle, birds and fish in Mayaro. Officers of the Mayaro Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Mayaro Task Force arrested one man and seized a quantity of cheese, birds, and fish in Mayaro on 9th October 2022.
According to police reports, officers of the Mayaro Police Station were on an anti-crime exercise when they proceeded to Sea Spray Road, Manzanilla Road, Mayaro, where they conducted surveillance.
During the surveillance, the officers saw three persons removing items from a boat. The items were later identified as ten buckets of cheese, four cattle, ten yellow and blue macaws, seven yellow head parrots in crocus bags and three cages with a quantity of Bull Finch birds.
As the officers approached the boat, two individuals ran along the shoreline into some nearby bushes. A chase ensued, and a 27-year-old man from Eccles Road Mayaro was arrested. PC Guerra is continuing investigations in collaboration with the Fisheries and Customs Divisions.
On the same day, two Firearms were seized by the TTPS. As per the police, suspect was held in Sustained Weekend Exercises. On the heels of the arrest of eleven suspects, the seizure of four firearms and the recovery of a stolen vehicle as a direct result of the use of the Grid Patrol System, one more suspect was held, and two more firearms were seized yesterday.
In the first exercise, officers of the Central Division executed several search warrants in the Claxton Bay district between 5:30 am and 10 am on Sunday, 9th October 2022. During the exercise, a 28-year-old man of the district was arrested for possession of a pistol loaded with one magazine containing eleven rounds of ammunition, two rounds of 9mm ammunition and 200 grammes of marijuana.
In the second exercise, the North Eastern Division Task Force and the Canine Branch conducted several searches in the Aranguez district between 2 pm and 5 pm yesterday. The searches resulted in a revolver and three magazines found in a bushy area at Small Street, Morvant.
