St Kitts and Nevis: Minister Samal Duggins announces launch of new Small Business Ministry

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister of the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, recently hosted a press conference in which the government addressed the critical issues related to the development and growth of the country. The conference was attended by all ministers of the Cabinet. The conference was organised at the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Conference Room.
While addressing the conference, the Minister of Small Business and Entrepreneurship – Samal Duggins, stated that the Small Business Development Centre (SBDC) has been planning to launch the Small Business Ministry. The main objective behind this new launch will be to contribute to growing entities, creating jobs and further supporting communities.
As per the minister, the decision has been taken by the government after witnessing significant contributions to the economy of St Kitts and Nevis.
“Small business will be officially launched soon. We were creating the proper infrastructure because it is a new ministry,” said Minister of Small Business and Entrepreneurship Samal Duggins during the Prime Minister’s Press Conference with Cabinet Ministers.
According to the minister, this new ministry will contribute positively towards the upliftment of each and every citizen and resident.
“The public, again, would now have a one-stop shop where they can come, apply for a business license; be guided through that process; be able to have technical expertise; guide you through the development of your business; training sessions; be able to be prepared for grant and loan management and the whole works all the way through, hopefully to a successful business,” said the minister.
In addition to this, Minister of Small Business Duggins outlined that St Kitts and Nevis government will continue to work efficiently towards the development of small and medium businesses islandwide. He also assured that support would be given to all the small and medium-sized business owners to grow and innovate.
