PM Terrance Drew prioritizes CARICOM’s agenda 25 by 2025

St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, engaged in discussions with local figures “NASA” and “Roosh” of Upper Monkey Hill to explore an innovative agricultural-tourism plan. He shared his vision of reducing the food import bill by 25% by 2025.

While shedding light on this initiative, PM Terrance Drew stated, “I strongly support initiatives like this.”

Along with that, PM Terrance Drew extended gratitude to Samal Duggins, Minister of Agriculture, for his unwavering commitment and dedication towards enhancing the nation’s agriculture sector and also for his competent and strong leadership on the 25/25 agenda.

Moreover, PM Terrance Drew also visited one of the prominent farmers of St Kitts and Nevis, Keithley Armstrong, at Armstrong Farms. This visit by PM Drew reiterated his commitment to making progress towards achieving CARICOM’s goal of 25 by 2025.

While acknowledging the farmers of the Federation, PM Terrance Drew stated, “Our farmers are instrumental to achieving this goal. Let’s work to strengthen our collaboration even more.”

PM Terrance Drew, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Marine Resources, is taking various proactive steps for strengthening the agricultural field of the island nation as well as to successfully accomplish CARICOM’s 25 by 2025 initiative, which is an effort to reduce the region’s Food Import Bill significantly.

One of the greatest projects undertaken by the Ministry of Agriculture was Greenhouse Village, which was to transform the agricultural sector by harnessing cutting-edge technology and prioritizing local production. The government of the island nation aimed to strengthen food security, empower farmers and create a more sustainable agricultural model.

This initiative undertaken by the government significantly improved water efficiency and increased crop production.
