PM Skerrit and President Sylvanie meets CSG Patricia Scotland; holds developmental talks
Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit welcomed the Commonwealth Secretary-General, Patricia Scotland, during her visit to Dominica.

Roseau, Dominica: Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit welcomed the Commonwealth Secretary-General, Patricia Scotland, during her visit to Dominica. The meeting was held at the Office of the Prime Minister on Wednesday, during which they covered several topics that would lead to development of the small island states like Dominica.
Sharing about the meeting on his social media handle, PM Skerrit expressed his delight in welcoming CSG Scotland to the land where she was born. He also appreciated the work the Secretary-General has been doing within the Commonwealth and setting an example for the society.
Prime Minister Skerrit discussed about CSG’s work at the Commonwealth Secretariat and also the plan for the development priorities for small island states like Dominica.
Sixth Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Patricia Scotland conveyed her honour to meet Dominica’s Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit. She stated that the meeting had discussions on of several developmental topics, which also included the Commonwealth’s support to Small Island Developing States through programmes like Commonwealth CFAH, Blue Charter and Common Sensing.
Additionally, they also interacted about partnering with the private sector, its outcomes and starting digital training courses especially for the youth.
CSG Patricia Scotland expressed her delight to be back in Dominica, her birth place where is also met Sylvanie Burton, the President of Dominica. Patricia thanked her for the warm welcome she received on arrival.
Both the dignitaries discussed about the values of AI in terms of development and its role to empower the youth of Dominica. Further they also had a discussion regarding the ongoing support that Commonwealth has been extending for the development of small states.
The Commonwealth has been diligently working in the promotion of democracy, taking care of the human rights and also by helping the SIDS in economic development, Not only this, but it also provides environmental sustainability. CSG Patricia Scotland being the second Secretary-General from the Caribbean and also the first woman to be designated at that post.
