Roseau, Dominica: The country, Dominica is organizing integrated Crop Management and Pest Management Training on February 7, 2024. The World University Service of Canada (WUSC) Caribbean Dominica Incorporation is conducting this in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture.

The ministry through their social media handle shared the information regarding the same. This will be an informative training session on Integrated Crop Management and Pest Management. This is designed to address the challenges faced by the Morne Prosper women in action group.

The session will be two hours long starting at 9 am and will last at 11 am at Morne Prosper, Dominica. Such an initiative would give a major contribution towards the growth and development to the agriculture sector of the country.

As the training would provide a support to the participants in enhancing their skills, this will directly support and would give an escalation to the crop production.

Probing ahead, in the initial days of January this year, the housing and urban development Minister, Melissa Skerrit introduced the public to Urban Agriculture Training which is to be held in the country. The training is based on the Chinese agricultural technical mission. This is introduced for the participants to gain knowledge in various areas aligned to agriculture.

Such a training will provide access to hydroponics and modern farming. Along with this, several other areas will also be covered in this, which are; food security, water efficiency, reduced land use and Climate Resilience. Also, it will focus on innovation and increased productivity and capacity development.

Importantly, two hydroponics systems are also installed at one mile agriculture station in Dominica to encourage the use of Chinese Agriculture techniques in the nation. And, these installed systems will be used in providing the training to the farmers.

Such an installation in the country aims at modernizing the production systems on the Island. And, this will even contribute to the future of farming in the country which further will benefit the country as a whole.
