US Embassy in Bahamas mourns loss of State Exchange alum Nathalee Martinborough

The US Embassy in the Bahamas expressed grief on the passing of US Department of State Exchange alumna Nathalee Martinborough.

Nassau, Bahamas: The United States of America Embassy in Nassau, The Bahamas, expressed heartfelt grief and sadness on the passing of US Department of State Exchange alumna Nathalee Martinborough.

The Embassy remembered the work life of Nathalee, a veteran broadcast journalist with more than thirty years in the profession, who passed away on Thursday, September 21, in Nassau after a brief illness. She was passionate about broadcast journalism and, prior to her passing and was recently promoted to the position of Assistant General Manager of News and Radio at the Broadcasting Corporation of The Bahamas – ZNS Northern Service in Freeport, Grand Bahama.

Hers was a trusted and respected voice for news coverage throughout the northern islands of Grand Bahama, Abaco, Bimini and the Berry Islands.

Emphasising her early career, the Embassy mentioned that in 2018, Nathalee participated in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) – Edward R. Murrow Program for Journalists: New and Traditional Media in the United States. She referred to the IVLP experience as one of the highlights of her professional career and was excited and eager to share the best practices from the program with the journalists on her return to Grand Bahama.

Over the years, US Embassy Nassau’s Public Diplomacy Section maintained a wonderful and fruitful working relationship with Nathalee. As a key media contact, she thrived on providing accurate news coverage and never hesitated to contact the Embassy for a comment or statement when needed.

Nathalee’s strong journalism ethics and integrity helped the Embassy to accurately disseminate information and communicate important updates to the Bahamian public, and for that, US Embassy Nassau is grateful.

“Our heartfelt condolences to the family of Nathalee Martinborough, her colleagues and the alumni who knew her,” the USA Embassy in the Bahamas mentioned through its official Facebook page.

“Her warm personality and smile will be missed. May she rest in peace,” it further expressed.

The locals also took to the comment section of the Facebook page and expressed condolence with the family and loved ones of the late Nathalee Martinborough.
