Unlicensed female kills man in accident at Linden Highway

Georgetown, Guyana: An unlicensed female Driver killed a man in an accident which occurred on Saturday on Hill Foot, Soesdyke, at Linden Highway.

Notably, the accident involved motor car PJJ 807, which was owned and driven by Steffy Timmerman. He is recognised as a 27-year-old of Kuru Kururu (who’s not the holder of a Driver’s license).

Reportedly, the deceased was acknowledged as pedestrian Vishnudat Ramlan, who was a 52-year-old from Lot 5.

It is to be noted that the enquiries disclosed that motor car PMM 2014 was proceeding East along the northern side of the highway when it was alleged by the Driver of the motor car.

It is to be noted that while driving, she witnessed a man in the centre of the northern drive lane, and on seeing that, she dragged North, but unfortunately, her right-side wing mirror collapsed with the pedestrian.

In due course of time, motor car PJJ 807 proceeded in the same direction at a fast rate, which overtook motor car PMM 2014 and bumped into the pedestrian.

This collision resulted in the fall of collision onto the road surface, where he got injuries to his head and on his body.

In the meantime, locals informed the police officials, and the officers arrived at the scene immediately.

The 52-year-old was picked up in an unconscious condition and was taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre, where he was seen and examined by doctors on duty and was declared dead on arrival.

The body of the pedestrian, Vishnudat Ramlan, was escorted to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The details of the post-mortem examination are yet to be received by the officials.

The investigating officers examined the matter thoroughly, and both the drivers were arrested and are assisting with the investigation.

Additionally, police reported a similar case of a fatal accident at the Agricultural Road, Mon Repos, ECD, in the nearby area of Guyana Livestock Development Authority on November 6, 2023, around 1:45 pm.

Notably, a 19-year-old got killed in this dangerous accident. As per the investigation, the car collided with a pole beside the western parapet, which resulted in everybody sitting in the car being thrown out of the vehicle and onto the western parapet.

Instead of the best possible treatment, the doctors of Georgetown Public Hospital could not save his life as he was in an unconscious state. The body of the deceased was taken to the Memorial Gardens Mortuary.
