Jamaica: Senator and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Kamina Johnson Smith, has recently shared an update after reaching in Kigali, Rwanda, for the 26th Meeting of the Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Nations.
Kamina Johnson has been candidature for the position of the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth 2022 from Jamaica.
She took it to her social media handles to disclose about the following information, stating that, “Thrilled to be in Kigali, Rwanda for the 26th Meeting of the Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Nations (#CHOGM). The theme this year is theme is “Delivering a Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming”.
This week, #Commonwealth heads will discuss climate change, food security, impact on our oceans and sustainable energy.”
About CHOGM:-
Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2022 will take place from 20-25 June 2022, in Kigali, Rwanda. The official opening of CHOGM will take place on Friday, June 24 and is followed by the main high-level meetings of Heads on Friday 24 to Saturday June 25. They are proceeded by four (4) Forums, ministerial meetings, side events and other activities.
CHOGM was expected to take place in June 2020 but was later deferred twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The theme for CHOGM 2022 is ‘Delivering a Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming.’
This theme highlights how the 54 member countries in the Commonwealth family are ‘innovating, connecting and transforming’ to help achieve some of its biggest goals, like protecting natural resources and boosting trade. It was chosen because deep-rooted networks of friendship and goodwill connect Commonwealth countries.
