Two Delta planes collided on a taxiway at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport by knocking the tail off one on Tuesday, 10th September, 2024. This incident resulted in causing several damages to the aircraft but no such serious injury has been reported yet.
As per the details, this incident involved a Delta Airbus A350, which was heading towards Tokyo, and a Bombardier CRJ900 operated by Delta’s Endeavor Air. The airbus was carrying 221 passengers and was prepping for take-off to Tokyo when the tail of the smaller jet struck, which had 56 passengers onboard.
According to the spokesperson of the Delta Air Lines, Anthony Black stated that the wingtip of a Delta Airbus A350 came into contact with a Delta CRJ 900 regional jet and the whole tail of the latter got off. He stated that gratefully every passenger is safe and was not injured in the collision.
Also, the passengers of the regional flight were taken back to the terminal by bus and were re-accommodated on alternate flights.
According to the information, the Airbus pilots were unaware of the collision at first and requested clarification after noticing an issue. And, the Emergency responders has confirmed damages to the smaller jet’s tail section. Also, as per the Federal Aviation Administration, the impacted runway is closed and several taxiways nearby have also been made shut.
The Airlines recently witnessed a technical mishap in the form of a tire explosion at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The explosion occurred at the airline’s warehouse and resulted in the death of two employees.
Such incidents have raised concern among the passengers regarding their safety. Though, the airlines have ensured to look into the matter and held a serious investigation into the matter.
The citizens have taken to their social media accounts and have expressed their views on the incident through their social media accounts, bashing the airport facilities and management.
One person commented, “This is not surprising to me. I tried to fly out of that airport a few weeks ago, and they have so many flights booked that one delay caused this ridiculous cascade of delays and cancellations. Poor airport management or poor FAA coordination.”
Another person wrote “Since no one was hurt, I’m good but the authorities there should look into the situation more closely to prevent future happening.”
