St Kitts architect Lavina Liburd in “100 Women: Architects in Practice,” making country proud

St Kitts and Nevis: Lavina Liburd, an architect from St Kitts, is featured in the book 100 Women: Architects in Practice.” It is published by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).
Considerably, three of her projects are featured in the publication that is Bayhouse Villa, Crook Bay and Virgin Gorda. The designs of these are a fusion of classic Caribbean architecture and contemporary tropical design.
She shared her own pleasure for this achievement on her social media. “I am honored to be one of a hundred women architects from around the world to be featured in this groundbreaking book. There are many exceptional and talented architects included in this publication and its humbling to join the,” quoted Lavina Liburd.
Moreover, she also mentioned the words which authors shared. One of them added that from the last 10 years, women in this field remained underrepresented, under-promoted and underpaid. And, there is a need to promote gender balance in this.
“In this latest publication from RIBA, women’s contribution to the built environment is rightly acknowledged and celebrated. 100 Women: Architects in Practice is a rich, diverse and fascinating survey of exceptional women architects from around the world,” mentioned an author.
Further, the book is a spotlight on leading practitioners from all across the world as it explores “the different worlds, different forms of architecture and the place-sensitive approaches.”
Interestingly, people who are expressing their joy at such an achievement by Lavina Liburd, extended their congratulations to her as she by this has made her country, St Kitts proud.
