St Kitts and Nevis: Minister Spencer Brand clarifies private land matter, once again

St Kitts and Nevis: Minister of Labour, Public Works, Physical Planning, Posts and the Environment of the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) – Spencer Brand has once again shared clarifications for those “who still want to know” about his dealing with the private land.

The Minister of Nevis took to social media and expressed his views. The post by Minister Brand read, “For inquiring minds who still want to know!”

The post further read:

1. My wife and I borrowed money to buy private lands in 2008 as private citizens.
2. I got approval to develop those lands through the CBI program in 2014 and 2015 while I was a private citizen.
3. I have not sold a single unit, and the development has never started
4. I did not become a member of the government until the end of 2017.
5. My obligation by law is to disclose my family assets to the Integrity Commission. I have done so each year, including the land owned by my wife and I since 2008.

A similar post was shared by the Premier of Nevis at Nevis Island Administration – Mark Brantley, in support of the minister of labour Brand.

Many people also joined hands to support the minister. The public took the comment section, and one of them commented, “Brand it is awful the way some people carry a grudge for those who have ambition and doing what they can to invest on our beautiful island. Please keep on doing what you can, and God will make a way.” Yet another one stated, “This is as clear as crystal. I can’t believe NRP is still on this.”

The third one wrote, “Honourable, you stay focused. They want you to lose your focus on the people of Nevis and focus on them but always remember God is in control and not them. Continue the good work you can do. God bless you, praying for you and the cabinet.”
