Saint Lucia: Charitable Organisation HelpAWS has recently shared a post regarding animals and gifts. The post by the organisation read, “Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift; this is why it is known as “the present”. All we can do is live in the present – in this day – and even though the moments are chaotic with so many little lives depending on us, and the day often seems too monumental to endure, we know that every day we can rescue and care for any animal in need is a GIFT.”

It further added that today’s gift is these four precious little sweethearts; 1 boy and three girls who mysteriously showed up on the road a few weeks ago. There hasn’t been any sign of their mother, so we aren’t sure if the pups were dumped or if something tragic happened, but they wandered into a lovely woman’s yard on their own, looking for food and shelter.

“Regardless of how they came to be, we are thankful the kind woman had been looking out for them until we could get them into our shelter. They are curious, good-natured babies who appear to be in somewhat decent health,” a post by HelpAWS read.

Of course, they will go through the regular intake process to rid them of fleas, ticks and worms, and HelpAWS will monitor them closely in quarantine over the next few weeks until the volunteers of the organisation are comfortable introducing them to the healthy side of the shelter.

“We are still rescuing far more animals than we are adopting out, which puts us in the horrible position of not being able to accept every animal we’re contacted about. We never want to turn our backs on the needy, but our hands are tied unless we’re able to make space by sending healthy animals to their forever homes,” it mentioned.

The post added, “But you can help!! We currently have 14 amazing babies in foster care in Canada. We are SO THANKFUL for our amazing tribe of volunteer foster families, but “temporary” is the key word! These sweet babies are ready to find their happily ever after with their Permanent families.”

HelpAWS also stated that if anyone has been thinking about adopting, visit www.helpaws.com/adopt to learn more about the 14 pups already in Canada, as well as those ready for adoption still at the shelter in Saint Lucia.
