Rwanda: Maltese Dy PM Chris Fearne and Canadian PM Trudeau meet at CHOGM 2022

Deputy Prime Minister of Malta, Christopher Fearne had a meeting with the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau at CHOGM 2022, which was organised from June 20th to June 25th in Kigali, Rwanda.

Rwanda: Deputy Prime Minister of Malta, Chris Fearne had a meeting with the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau at CHOGM 2022, which was organised from June 20th to June 25th in Kigali, Rwanda.

Both the international leaders discussed the problems of food scarcity, being faced by the world. Canada PM Trudeau and Deputy PM Fearne also interacted about Commonwealth response of the Russia-Ukraine war.

Maltese Dy PM Chris Fearne took over to the social media and expressed his gratitude of meeting the Prime Minister Trudeau. The deputy prime minister stated, “With @CanadianPM Justin Trudeau at @CHOGM2022 discussing #Commonwealth response to war in Ukrainian and consequent food scarcity.”

Justin Trudeau and Chris Fearne also discussed about the bilateral ties between the countries, observance of international rule of law, health and vaccine equity, climate change action.

The policies and thoughts of Chris Fearne, who is also known as the health minister, have resulted in the upliftment and development of Malta. During the crucial time of COVID-19, Chris Fearne-led Health Ministry handled the country very efficiently. The government imposed proper national as well as international guidelines to safeguard the citizens and residents of Malta.

The health minister stated that the nation will focus on “new priorities” – the environment and our quality of life, in the upcoming year. He asserted that climate change is a global threat and Malta, being a small state, will fight against it strongly.

The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2022, was 26th Meeting of the Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Nations. The leaders of the 54 Commonwealth countries reached Rwanda to attend the meet and discuss the various international topics. The theme of the meeting was “Delivering a Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming.” The CHOGM 2022 was attended also attended by Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda- Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Dominica– Roosevelt Skerrit, Prime Minister of St Lucia- Philip J Pierre.
