Dominica: PM Skerrit meets with Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland

Dominica: Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit has extended best wishes towards the Commonwealth Secretary-General – Patricia Scotland on May 26, 2022 (Thursday).

While expressing the pleasure, PM Skerrit wrote, “I was delighted to welcome the Patricia Scotland QC, the Commonwealth Secretary-General, to Dominica today.”

Furthermore, he stated that Dominica’s government and its people have full-back, and she will surely retain her post as the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth. PM Skerrit added that she would continue her work of identifying the solutions for the issues faced by the Caribbean community.

“Baroness Scotland has Dominica’s full backing for retaining her post of Secretary-General of the Commonwealth to continue her work of identifying solutions to the most pressing issues facing member states,” PM Skerrit mentioned.

Elections to fill the post will be held during the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in Kigali, Rwanda, in June 2022.

Many residents of Dominica extended their support to the Secretary-General. One of the users stated, “Congratulations to her. She has my fullest support,” yet another mentioned, “May the good great gracious God be with you, Baroness Scotland I wish you success.”

The third one commented, “Congrats, my lady, welcome; we love u; u must win in Jesus name with our prayer n suplication ur request will be made known to d Lord once my Doc Doc on ur side all is well.”

During the visit, Patricia Scotland also met with the Minister for Planning, Economic Development, Climate Resilience, Sustainable Development & Renewable Energy, Vince Henderson.

Patricia took social media and stated, “Honoured to present Dominica’s Minister for Planning, Economic Development, Climate Resilience, Sustainable Development & Renewable Energy Vince Henderson with our Commonwealth Secretary-produced children’s books on sustainable energy and deep-sea minerals, as well as my biennial report.

She further mentioned, “We enjoyed useful talks about Commonwealth Secretary impact over the past six years, as well as progress to come with programmes such as the Commonwealth Climate Finance Access Hub, Commonwealth Sustainable Energy Agenda & Commonwealth Blue Charter.”
