Delta Airlines 1985 made a grand return to Barbados on Saturday, 23rd November 2024, resuming its flight services from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, Atlanta to Grantley Adams International Airport, Bridgetown. The resumption of these non-stop services is expected to play a huge role in boosting tourism and enhancing connectivity.
A Tourism contingent of Barbados led by the Ministry of Tourism, Ian Gooding-Edghill celebrated the return of the direct airlift to Bridgetown. All the passengers in the return flight of Delta Airlines were welcomed by the tourism authority with dance offs, Bajan tamarind treats, T-shirt giveaways, and soca music.
The tourism minister, Ian Gooding-Edghill thanked the captain and the first officer of the flight for the smooth and successful return to Barbados. He said that the return of the services comes at a golden time ahead of the 2025 We Gatherin’ Campaign.
The Tourism Minister, Ian Gooding-Edghill said that the resumption of the services by Delta highlights the confidence of the airline in Barbados. He further said that these services will play a huge role in strengthening the island’s ability to leverage connections with Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport as a hub.

As per the details, the last time when Delta touched down at the Grantley Adams International Airport was in 2016 from New York, and 2017 from Atlanta. After a gap of almost 7 years, Delta Airline is once again ready to offer non-stop services to Barbados, enhancing its connection with the rest of the world.
During the press conference, the tourism minister said that Barbados has witnessed an unprecedented growth in the last year. He further shared that they are expecting to go higher and mark more growth with the services by Delta Airlines. He said that there is an expectation of around 31% growth in bookings to Barbados from the US market in this tourism season.
The authorities added that these services by the Delta Airline would play a significant role in making Barbados as a destination and brand with unique opportunities and diverse offerings. He further continued to highlight the benefits that can be availed by the country with the resumption of the services by the airline.

Minister Edghill said that they are looking forward to mark the busiest days in the airport with the expanded flight services by Delta Airline. He said that they are aiming to improve their U.S. market by attracting a large number of travellers to the country.
The Minister also mentioned about the continuous efforts taken by the tourism authority to develop its infrastructural facilities. He said that they are working on the capacity of the airport with a vision to accommodate the increase in aircraft and passengers.
