Reduction in retail prices of LPG Gas Cylinders announced by Saint Lucia, relief to consumers
The Government of Saint Lucia announced the reduction in retail prices of the 20-lb and 22-lb LPG cooking gas cylinders by 31%.

Castries, Saint Lucia: The Government led by Prime Minister Philip Pierre announced the reduction in retail prices of the 20-lb and 22-lb LPG cooking gas cylinders by 31%. The prices of 20-lb LPG and the 22-lb LPG have been lowered by $16.36 and $17.99 respectively due to subsidies.
As per the details, the initial price of 20-lb LPG gas cylinder was $52.63 which after the implementation of subsidy cost amounted to $36.00. Meanwhile, the unsubsidized price of 22-lb LPG was $57.59 which after the implementation of subsidy cost equals to $39.60.
Notably, these prices were implemented on 17th June and will be effective till 7th July 2024. The administration of Saint Lucia is keeping with changes in international oil prices and the application of the administration of the modified market pass-through petroleum pricing mechanism. Meanwhile, the retail prices of diesel, kerosene, gasoline and LPG 20-pound and 22-pound cylinders remains constant.
The price of gasoline was initially $3.63 per litre and $16.50 per imperial gallon and the price has remain unchanged. On the other hand, the price of diesel also remained constant, at $3.63 per litre and $16.50 per imperial gallon.
Meanwhile, the price of kerosene was $2.57 per litre and $11.69 per imperial gallon and no change has been made by the government. The price of 20-pound (9.07 kg) and 22-pound (9.98 kg) cylinder has also remained unchanged as it is amounted to $36.00 and $39.60 respectively.
Whereas, the government has reduced the retail price of the 100-pound cylinder. The administration has announced the decrease of $5.67 in its price. The price was initially marked at $267.45 per cylinder and after the implementation of changes, the amount became equals to $261.78 per cylinder.
As per the details, the next fuel price adjustment is scheduled to take place on 28th July 2024. With such implementation of subsidies, the government of Saint Lucia aims to offer easy and enhanced standard of living to all their citizens. They are making efforts so that every person can have access to all these amenities at cheaper price rates.
