PM Roosevelt Skerrit appreciates generous support by China over two decades

Roseau, Dominica: Roosevelt Skerrit, the Prime Minister of Dominica spoke of strong ties between Dominica and China at the reception held for celebrating 20 successful years of diplomatic relations.

The Prime Minister while delivering the speech highlighted positive outcomes which have been seen in Dominica which have been possible with the cooperation of China. The establishment of the diplomatic ties took the commencing phase in 2004 and now, it is 2024. For the last 20 years, China has been a great friend to Dominica.

He referred to China as a true friend of Dominica and stated that it has always been there at the times of need. In the difficult times, the generous support by China to Dominica has proven the friendship.

The reception event was hosted by Martin Charles, Ambassador of Dominica to China and the students of Dominica who are the students in China presently. He extended thanks to them for such a great event and for promoting the national heritage of the country. It was hosted in collaboration with CPAFFC (Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries).

While providing the remarks at the event, the Prime Minister significantly mentioned the times of COVID-19 and stressed on the support provided by China. He highlighted that the country has been in support of Dominica at any difficult times and one should not forget the assistance provided by it during the times of natural disasters.

Further, he casted light on projects which are proposed by China, to which he significantly mentioned the Belt and Road Initiative, Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative and Global Civilization Initiative.

Belt and Road Initiative offered many opportunities to Dominica by supporting in several ways financially or technically. China has always been there to help Dominica build economic independence. He outlined many other initiatives as well in which China has had greater support. 

All such initiatives include Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, and Global Civilization Initiative. All such initiatives would help the country towards achieving sustainable development goals.

Moreover, the Prime Minister mentioned China’s contribution towards world peace and development. And the administration the country itself has which has fostered modernization and development by every means.
