PM Pierre graces 45th Independence Anniversary, expresses commitment for National Unity
Prime Minister Philip J Pierre expressed his commitment regarding the National Unity during his address on the occasion of nation’s 45th Independence Anniversary.

Castries, Saint Lucia: Prime Minister Philip J Pierre expressed his commitment to National Unity during his address on the occasion of the nation’s 45th Independence Anniversary. The event was celebrated at the Soufriere mini-stadium on Thursday.
He said that his government never compromised on the ideals of national unity despite any political and religious differences among the people as there is diversity in cultures and religions and they accept those differences.
While addressing the citizens, PM Pierre stated that the government continues to promote unity among the people and practice ‘one people, with a common purpose.’ He believes that by following this motto, his country will achieve inclusive, meaningful and sustainable development goals.
Furthermore, the prime minister of Saint Lucia added that he is spreading the spirit of brotherhood which will help them to adopt a unified approach for the future.
Noting this, the leader of the island nation said that the country must formulate the vision through sustained civic dialogue and strengthen it through inclusion in social and political relations, fairness, and resource allocation.
“And so, on this 45th Independence Anniversary, I renew my call to civil society, political parties, non-governmental organizations, trade unions, national, business associations, community groups, religious, and other institutions to come forward to play your part in nation-building without fear or favour”, PM Pierre remarked.
The Prime Minister of Saint Lucia urged the public that they should know the worth of fraternity instead of spreading hatred and division within the country.
Moreover, the Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, as well as the member of parliament serving for Castries South, Ernest Hilaire expressed his gratefulness on the eve of Independence Day.
The 45th Independence Anniversary was celebrated under the theme, “Douvan Ansanm; Building a nation through Unity, Resilience, and Creativity.”
He lauded the untiring efforts of the government to tackle the challenges which became hurdles in the growth of the country, in terms of resilience and unity. The DY PM Hilaire added that the authorities continue to serve the people and create a prosperous environment for them.
Additionally, the government urged zero tolerance for all criminal activities in the country and is committed to tackling such situations by implementing strict laws and conducting anti-crime exercises across the nation.
