PM Pierre exchanges dialogues with AG & police, discusses measures to curb crimes

PM Pierre held a meeting with the Attorney General and the police to address the critical issues of the state, with a primary focus on increasing criminal activities.

Castries, Saint Lucia: Prime Minister Philip J Pierre held a meeting with the Attorney General and the police to address the critical issues of the state, with a primary focus on increasing criminal activities. He discussed the measures to curb the spike in crimes in the country. 

PM Pierre received a progress report on ongoing efforts by the police department to trace the individuals and their associate’s connection in a series of shooting incidents.

The leader of Saint Lucia returned to Saint Lucia on Thursday, and immediately after coming back home, he called for a meeting to discuss the progress in ongoing efforts to tackle crimes, as the island has recorded 19 homicides to date. 

As per reports, it has been observed that the murders are mostly gun-violence related. The Prime Minister expressed his commitment to stop senseless shootings in the areas of Saint Lucia as his top priority.

“Putting a stop to the senseless shootings remains a high-priority area of focus for the police and the government,” Pierre’s office declared through their official Facebook handle.

Prime Minister Pierre, who also serves as Minister of National Security, expressed his commitment to prioritizing the safety of civilians. He disclosed that the government of the Federation is supporting the Saint Lucia Police Force with every possible equipment, tool, and resource that will be used to fight against crimes.

He strongly condemned all the criminal and illegal activities in the country that occurred since the beginning of the year, which has resulted in the loss of several lives. 

While keeping this in mind, the authorities have appointed high-level officers in the police department and provided them with all the legal powers to curb the increase in crimes. 

In addition, the RSLPF (Royal Saint Lucia Police Force) is conducting many anti-crime exercises in different constituencies, which are expected to have a positive impact and restrict gang-related criminal exercises. 

The citizen of the country extended their support to PM Pierre and his government and admired their untiring efforts to stand against the crimes. 

While reacting to the news, one such comment by FB user Cornelius Stephen read, “Bravo mr prime minister,, we all know that you are extremely concerned with the growing numbers of homicides that are taking place on the island.”

Such words from the people indicate their trust in their prime minister. Additionally, PM Pierre urges zero tolerance for crimes and criminals.
