MoU signed between CARICOM and FIFA
FIFA signed a MoU for establishing sports like football in the region with CARICOM

As the social responsibility towards football development in the Caribbean region and to strengthen the collaboration to promote the sports integrity. Caribbean Community and FIFA signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with each other.
The landmark agreement was signed by CARICOM Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque and FIFA President Gianni Infantino during a virtual ceremony.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino said that they were delighted to enter into this agreement with the Caribbean Community, aiming to leverage their sport as a catalyst for social development in the region. Football has been an incredible following in the Caribbean, and there is still great potential for additional growth. He was very happy to see that the countries understand the opportunities that bring in terms of social benefits for their communities, and they are looking forward to working hand in hand with them around that common goal.
CARICOM Secretary-General Irwin LaRocque also stated that he very much welcome this MOU and the partnership with FIFA. Many of their Member States have been establishing developmental programmes by making sports a transformative agent. The Caribbean region has appreciated many development programs by the sports like football.
FIFA Vice President Victor Montagliani added that the integrity of sport, and football in particular, in their region had been a top priority for FIFA and Concacaf, and he could only welcome that partnership signed that day. That would benefit the whole Caribbean region and support them in their extensive efforts for developing the game at maximum levels. Football has been a unifying force that promotes social development, transcending all types of barriers to the benefit of their societies.
FIFA Legend Russell Latapy said that they appreciate the effort of FIFA and CARICOM for investing in the development of sports like football because a safer environment for their children is also a safer environment for football across the board and everyone involved.
The main focus of this agreement will be on the protection of the children and adults those are playing football or involved in sports of football, the fight against the manipulation of matches.
