Jamaica: The largest airline in Latin America, LATAM is to all set to restart its nonstop flight services between Lima, Peru and Montego Bay, Jamaica from 1st December 2024. The airline is restarting its operation following COVID-19 pandemic and aims to enhance travel options for all its visitors.
The announcement was made by the Tourism Minister, Edmund Bartlett, the officials of Jamaica Tourist Board and the Ministry of Tourism in a press release on Sunday. The announcement comes out following a successful tourism sales mission in South America last summer.
The Tourism Minister, Edmund Bartlett stated that the entire nation is excited about this new LATAM Airlines route which will play a huge role in improving connectivity and will bring immense tourism growth in the island nation. He further asserted that this crucial initiative marks a significant moment for the island nation as it expands its presence in Latin America market.
Bartlett stated that the expansion of services will attract large number of tourists to the country which will further generate huge amount of revenue for the nation, enhancing its economic conditions.
The flight will offer its services three times per week, utilising Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft holding capacity for 144 and 174 seats respectively. The flights connect Montego Bay’s Sangster International Airport to Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima, Peru and will be scheduled to facilitate easy connections with Peru’s national network.
Along with that, these nonstop flight operations will also offer services in South America which includes, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina and many more. The authorities aimed to enhance air connectivity and relations between Jamaica and the airline management.
During the last summer, the senior advisor, Edmund Bartlett and Strategist, Delano Seiveright, JTB Head Donovan White and the other officers led engagements with hundreds of travel trade partners. Those trade partners belong from Latin America including, Argentina, Chile and Peru.
The LATAM airline last operated its services to Jamaica in December 2019, January, and February 2020, but that connection was cut short with the outbreak of the pandemic.
