Royal Caribbean invests $600M for tourism development in Mahahual

The Royal Caribbean Group officials announced the investment of six hundred million dollars to Mahahual, Quintana Roo, Mexico. The investment is dedicated to the redevelopment of the destination, which was disclosed officially during the presentation of the investment in the state.
Mahahual is a village that shares its coast with the Caribbean Sea. The village was previously known for fishing, however, in recent times, the place has turned into a tourist destination. The intention of the investment is to build the infrastructure and transform the locality to serve global tourists with the necessary facilities.
The announcement presentation of Mahahual investment was joined by the Governor of Quintana Roo, Mara Lezama Espinosa, who expressed her view about the initiative. The presentation of the investment by the Royal Caribbean Group was also attended by Vagner Elbiorn, the general director of the Integral Port Administration; Bernardo Cueto, the state secretary of Tourism; Verónica Lezama, president of DIF Estatal.
Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa said, “We are excited to announce this new investment in the state, which follows other recent investments made by the consortium, such as the Royal Beach Club in Cozumel last year.”
She added, “The new push for the development of the Mahahual cruise port is a project that will not only transform this beautiful Caribbean destination but also reaffirm our commitment to sustainability and community well-being.”
Governor Mara explained that the vision of the authorities with this investment in Mahahual is to give rise to a new era of the Mexican Caribbean. It was stated that the initiative is committed to the responsible development of a friendly environment and self-managed by the community like Maya Ka’an.
The CEO of Royal Caribbean International, Michael Bayley, mentioned in his words that the project under this investment will help Quintana Roo in elevating as a sustainable and modern tourist destination. He quoted that the project is to transform experience of Mahahual through Perfect Day Mexico.
Perfect Day Mexico is a water park destination by the Royal Caribbean Group, which is developed for tourism at the cost of Mahahual. It is disclosed that after the conclusion of the development project, Mahahual will able to host over twenty-one thousand visitors daily.
It is expected that the growing cruise tourism and the planned projects, the growth will be recorded which could be around 2.6 million visitors in the very first year. It is calculated that tourism could increase up to the arrival of five million visitors by the year 2033.
The officials declared the project for Mahahual by the Royal Caribbean Group is following the State Development Plan of Quintana Roo. Under the project, the officials are also focused on the betterment of the locals under the new agreement along with the proposed development.
It is declared that the social impacts of the project on the communities are also ensured as a priority. The project will be shaped on the ground level under the coordination of the University of Quintana Roo and the State Agency for Strategic Projects.
With the strengthening of tourism in Mahahual with investment in infrastructure and quality facilities, the potential of the destination will be explored. This will support the local market and communities and give the citizens new paths and opportunities to expand.
The Royal Caribbean Group’s investment in Mahahual is also expected to affect employment. It is expected that the project will create new job opportunities for thousands of individuals in next few years. However, many direct jobs will surely created for the operation of new tourist experiences.
As a part of the project to develop the destination, the officials also planned to connect the place to the Limones station with a train route. The Mayan Train is mentioned to serve, along with the dedicated promotions targeted at tourists coming from around the globe who want to visit the destination.
