Caribbean: Johnson Charles from Saint Lucia Kings became the first player to score 3000 runs in the Caribbean Premier League on Thursday. In a match against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, Charles became a player with the highest runs and longest six of the day.
With his powerful knock of 74 runs and support from Skipper Faf du Plessis, Saint Lucia Kings managed to secure the third victory in their CPL 2024 campaign. The victory pushed the Kings up in the points table and placed them in the third position with six points.
He was well supported by Skipper Faf du Plessis who made 62 runs and provided great momentum to the team in the powerful for chasing the target of 174 runs in 16.3 overs. The inning of Charles garnered appreciation from the citizens of Saint Lucia and the cricket lovers and stated that he has a great legacy in the sport.
The match was held at Daren Sammy Cricket Stadium in which Saint Lucia Kings won the toss and decided to bowl first. SKN Patriots made 173 runs with the loss of 5 wickets in the 20 overs. The batting performances from Andre Fletcher and Rilee Rossouw have provided momentum to the team while making 62 and 50 runs respectively.
However, the chasing for Charles and Plessis remained easy as they completed the match in just 16.3 overs. The Kings secured the third position with the victory, while SKN Patriots stood in the last position in the points table with six defeats in a row out of the seven matches.
The first position was secured by Guyana Amazon Warriors with six points and three victories in a low without any lost, while Barbados Royals stood at the second position with six points. The next match of the ongoing Caribbean Premier League will be held between Barbados Royals and Trinbago Knight Riders at 7: 00 pm at Barbados.
