India-Guyana Partnership: Driving Energy, Food Security, and Development

The enhancement of Guyana-India relations is undoubtedly ushering in revolutionary change in the region, and specifically in energy, food security and human capital.

This was echoed by India’s High Commissioner to Guyana and CARICOM, Dr. Amit Telang when he spoke with Kiana Wilburg, the CEO of the Guyana Energy Conference & Supply Chain Expo.

With President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, Irfaan Ali and Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi at the helm, the two nations are now set to work towards responding to some of the biggest question marks affecting both parties.

Due to the achievements in the energy sector the republic of Guyana becomes the important link in scenario of India to diversify its sources of energy and invest in sustainable development.

However, at the same time, India possesses specific technological and technical agricultural experience, which may bring positive changes to Guyana’s food and agricultural security.

In addition to bilateral relationships, the partnership fortifies Guyana’s stake in the India-CARICOM developmental relations.

This engagement creates avenues to provide training scholarships and technical assistance in seeking to equip relevant Guyanese institutions and the workforce especially in coping with globalization.

In the midst of the continued increase of the bond between Guyana and India, the partnership contributes not only to both nations’ agenda but also in strengthening Caribbean regional integration, while presenting a successful formula for sustainable development.
