Westmoreland, Jamaica: Two men from Jamaica who shot a 36-year-old Security guard to death have been charged with the offense of murder and wounding with intent. The date to appear in court has been finalized for them.
The suspects have been identified as 57-year-old Wilford Cooke, also known as ‘Kong,’ and 21-year-old Lavaughn Cooke, alias ‘Jah Jah.’ The victim who was shot to death has been identified as Nastacia Smith, a security guard of Flower Hill in St James.
The shooting incident is reported to have taken place on Sunday, 17th March 2024. As per the details, the victim, Nastacia Smith, was at her residence along with her family members and relatives when the suspects, both armed with firemen, entered the yard. Subsequently, both the suspects opened fire through the window of the house before fleeing from the area.
Following the incident, the authorities were immediately informed about the act of crime, and they responded to the matter by visiting the crime spot, where they found the injured body of the victim. They initiated the investigation by seizing the place, and on examining, they found Smith lying on her back, bleeding from the wounds of gunshot caused by the gunshot.
Straight after the discovery of wounds, Smith was taken to the hospital, where the doctors on duty examined her thoroughly and pronounced her dead. Meanwhile, another person who became a victim of the gunshot sustained severe injuries, and she has been released from the hospital and is recovering.
Moreover, the officers conducted a thorough investigation of the matter, which resulted in the apprehension of both suspects and charged them for the offense they committed.
Several residents of the community took to their social media accounts and expressed views and opinions on the crime incident. One person commented, “It is very sad to hear about someone losing their life. How these people are daring to kill someone and that also at their own residence.”
