Caribbean shines in 51st CARIFTA Games

The 51^st edition of CARIFTA Games witnessed several exciting athletes and games. A total of 28 nations participated in the CARIFTA 2024 and displayed their outstanding talent, skills, abilities and techniques.

The Games took place in Grenada at the Kirani James Athletic Stadium from 28^th March to 31^st March 2024. The event gave several athletes the opportunity to enhance their strengths and work on their weaknesses.

Jamaica earned the first position by bagging the maximum number of medals, the nation won 83 medals in total. The athletes of Jamaica showcased exceptional performances and remarkable skills while representing their nation.

In fact, one of the athletes of Jamaica, Nickecoy Bramwell broke the unbeaten 22-year-old record set by Usain Bolt. The athletes of the nation remained committed to their goals and led their team towards victory and brought laurels to their nation.

Jamaica was untouchable throughout the tournament and created a huge difference in the total number of medals for first and second place.

Bahamas secured the second position in CARIFTA 2024, claiming 33 medals including, 9 gold, 13 silver and 11 bronze. The athletes displayed exceptional performances and won several medals for their nation. Trinidad and Tobago became the second runner-up with 27 medals. All the teams displayed impressive performances and represented their nation with utmost grace and confidence.

Grenada, the host of the 51^st CARIFTA Games claimed the fourth spot with 14 medals, 1 gold, 6 silver and 7 bronze. Chrystope Calliste secured the first and the only gold medal for the Grenada in 51^st CARIFTA Games in the Boys Under-17 Triple Jump.

The other participating nations including Belize, Virgin Islands, Guyana, Cayman Islands, Guadeloupe, Antigua and Barbuda, St Kitts and Nevis and Dominica, they all won medals.

Various games were conducted including hurdle race, sprint races, javellin, relay, throwing events and many more with a motive to promote youth of the Caribbean nations in such sporting activities. It also plays a crucial role in fostering physical and mental heath of the citizens of the nation.

The 51^st CARIFTA Games was a very successful event which was the result of the unwavering commitment and dedication of the young athletes who strived hard to win a medal for their nation.
