Guyana: In a shocking incident of burglary, the bandits broke into the house of a businessman who is currently on a holiday abroad along with his family. It is reported that they took over cash and jewelry worth 28 million.
According to the reports, the burglary occurred between 3:00 PM on Saturday, August 24, 2024, and 1:50 AM on Sunday, August 25, 2024.
The Police officials have shared that the victim has been identified as businessman Haimant Chowtie aka Two Leaf resident of Columbia, Essequibo Coast who is currently holidaying overseas.
Reports indicate that the businessman had trusted a close relative with checking on his property while he was abroad. Around the timeframe of the burglary, his son remotely checked the CCTV cameras of the home and noticed that they were unexpectedly showing offline.
The son immediately informed about the discovery to the relative, who promptly visited the property and found out that it was broken into and robbed.
The officials reported that among some of the stolen items are 2 Diamond bands worth $5 million, 8 watches alued $8.5 million, 4 gold chains worth $1 million, diamond pendant and earrings worth $1.5 million and 12 perfumes worth $900,000. The bandits also robbed a box of ammunition worth $10 million dollars and US $7,000 cash.
Further, to conduct the investigation, the Police have extracted the CCTV footage, which reportedly showed three unidentifiable suspects committing the act.
It is reported that the investigations continue, and the officials are trying hard to identify and arrest the culprits.
The local community is concerned about the safety and security, however they are also pointing out that why did the family leave behind so many valuable things at home while they were on vacation.
Authorities are now intensifying their efforts to track the culprits and recover the stolen assets.
