Dominica to hand over additional 361 homes in fiscal year 2024/2025: Minister Irving McIntyre
Ministry of Finance, Dr Irving McIntyre focused on handing over an additional 361 homes this year in order to ensure the safety and security of the citizens during severe weather conditions.

Roseau, Dominica: Ministry of Finance, Dr Irving McIntyre focused on handing over an additional 361 homes this year in order to ensure the safety and security of the citizens during severe weather conditions. The information has been shared by the Minister during the Budget address 2024/2025.
He stated that in the last year, the homes handed over to the beneficiaries were 249. While shedding light on it, Minister of Finance stated that this aligns with the policy of social protection and people centred development in order to enhance the quality of life and standard of living of every Dominican.
“The demand for home ownership nationally remains high,” stated Minister of Finance, Irving McIntyre.
In the last fiscal year, the government sold 50 residential lots to applicants at various occasions. In this fiscal year, Government will make available 163 residential lots for sale at concessional rates.
The Minister also said that the credit union have agreed to give special consideration, offering favourable mortgage rates and conditions. He added that this project underscores the dedication of the government towards sustainable housing and living.
He also encouraged the young individuals to actively participate in housing revolution by investing in land and home ownership. “Don’t shy away from taking mortgage bill to home. Housing is a cornerstone of sustainability and prosperity,” noted Minister McIntyre.
He also added that in the first phase 35 homes will be constructed in the new development site. This project will commence in the last quarter of 2024. The Minister stated that investment in housing sector will stimulate economic growth, create economic opportunities for architects, engineers, construction workers and many more.
