The second largest town in Dominica, Portsmouth secured third place on the list of the top 20 most beautiful cities in the world, according to the renowned publication Architectural Digest.

Portsmouth, Dominica: The second largest town in Dominica, Portsmouth secured third place on the list of the top 20 most beautiful cities in the world, according to the renowned publication Architectural Digest.
Portsmouth made its position in this prestigious list leaving behind several cities namely, Paris, Cape Town, Florence and many other. While appreciating the beauty of Portsmouth, the publication stated that it is significantly less known than the other cities mentioned on the list and that is what makes it more captivating.
It also stated that the Nature Isle might be new to many, but the jungle hiking trails, coastal wetlands lined with the sculptural roots of mango trees, and unspoiled beaches definitely make it hard to forget for all those who have explored these tourist attractions.
Moreover, the publication also stressed on the natural beauty of the Portsmouth and stated that the beauty of the city also lies in its effort to protect all the natural allure. They also mentioned that Secret Bay, the major and known hotel of the area is a shrine to sustainability and built from responsibly sourced wood, outfitted with locally crafted furniture, and dedicated to farm-to-table dining.
While shedding light on the aspects they consider for deciding the beautiful city, they noted that the architecture, cultural treasure, historical relevance, as well as natural appeal are something that attracts tourists more towards the nation. They also noted that the best cities are the ones that offer something that can’t be found anywhere, and the cities that have been able to make their place in the top 20 are truly the ones that offer an experience like no other.
They also stated that their list is by no means definitive and added that the 20 cities which they selected sums up all the world’s beauty for them. They also remarked that they have taken a stab at highlighting some of the beautiful places from the remote beaches of the Caribbean to the cultural capital of Japan.
