CONCACAF: Saint Lucia bags victory against St Kitts and Nevis, leads scoreboard

Castries, Saint Lucia: The men’s team of Saint Lucia played its second match in the CONCACAF Nation League 2023 on September 10. After bagging the victory against St Kitts and Nevis by 2-0, Saint Lucia secured the first position in the Group A scoreboard.
St Kitts and Nevis lost the match as it secured 0 goals during the match. The match was held at the Darren Sammy Cricket Ground in Gros Islet, Saint Lucia.
During the first half of the game, one of the best opportunities came for Saint Lucia in a corner kick, but Jevick MacFarlane was denied by the right post.
Following this, the goalkeeper of St Kitts and Nevis – Julani Archibald, kept things scoreless for at least 40 minutes of the game. After this time, a goal was scored by Alvinus Myers in connection with Ridel Stanislas.
St Kitts and Nevis failed to score any goal because of the smart game of Saint Lucian goalkeeper Vino Barclett. His save at the 49th minute to Keithroy Free at the far post was unbelievable as well as commendable.
In the upcoming game, Saint Lucia’s opening goal was scored by Gregson President. He took the lead for the home side just seconds after the save by Barclett.
This was followed by a goal from Ridel Stanislas in the 75th minute. He scored a goal with a long-distance chip from left field that bounced off the far post.
Saint Lucian team tried to make another goal, but the attempt was saved by Barclett in the 81st minute of the game.
As the time ended, Saint Lucia had two goals in its bucket, making the team the winner of the tournament.
Following this victory, Saint Lucia is at the top of the scoreboard.
According to the schedule of CONCACAF 2023, St Kitts and Nevis will play its next match against Sint Maarten at the home ground.
